HVAC rebates in Florida

Florida’s utility rebate landscape is among the strongest in the Southeast, but the programs differ sharply in size and paperwork.

Verified directly on each utility’s page (July 2026):

• FPL — $200 instant credit on the contractor’s invoice for a new system rated SEER2 15.2 or above, installed by an FPL-approved Participating Independent Contractor.
• TECO (Tampa Electric) — $40 at SEER2 15.2 or $550 at SEER2 16.2. Apply with the AHRI certificate and paid invoice within 90 days; capped at the invoice total.
• JEA — $200 for an ENERGY STAR central AC, heat pump, or mini-split, plus $50 for an ENERGY STAR smart thermostat. Apply within 90 days, and no later than October 10, 2026 for the current program year.
• OUC — $45 to $1,150 as a bill credit depending on tonnage and SEER2, for systems at 15.2 SEER2 or higher. Submit the dated invoice and AHRI certificate within 6 months via myOUC.

Duke Energy Florida — honest caveat. The HVAC Replacement program exists, but Duke’s own page blocked our verification, so the amounts are unverified. Third parties report up to $1,000 per unit at SEER 16/17/18+ tiers. Confirm directly with Duke before counting it in your budget.

Federal HEAR/HOMES. Florida was allocated roughly $346 million (about $173.7M HOMES plus $172.7M HEAR). The money was delayed by a 2023 veto fight — widely reported at the time as the state rejecting the funds — but the state later accepted them. As of July 2026, FDACS’s Florida Energy Saver portal says applications have not yet opened. Allocated is not available: nobody can enroll you today, whatever an ad claims.

Last thing: the federal 25C tax credit is dead for equipment placed in service after December 31, 2025.
