About HVAC-Cost

HVAC-Cost is an independent reference for what heating and cooling work actually costs in the United States. We are not an HVAC contractor, we do not install or repair equipment, and we do not sell leads to anyone who does.

Why it exists

Replacing a system is one of the largest unplanned purchases a homeowner makes, and it arrives on the worst possible day — usually in August, usually with a technician standing in the driveway. Most people have no way to tell whether the number they were just quoted is reasonable. The published information is either a national average that ignores everything local, or a contractor's blog post that exists to sell a job.

How it is funded

Display advertising, and affiliate commissions on related products where we disclose them. Advertising has no influence on our cost figures, and we do not accept payment from contractors for coverage, placement, or ratings.

Who publishes it

HVAC-Cost is published by Fillipe Moraes, an operator and developer based in Central Florida. Florida is where our coverage goes deepest — it is the market we know first-hand, and the one where climate, coastal corrosion, permitting and utility rebates diverge hardest from the national picture.
